There's nothing like having your future father in law hand you a pair of your unders that you dropped out of the dryer.

(we're still playing the waiting game....just now with the Electric Company)

PICTURES to come (not of my unders)

but of my loverly trailer.

patience is a sucky virtue.

Operation: Get a picture with Dolly for Mamaw- COMPLETE

This is my Aunt Cindy and my Mom (right). I posted here about their mission at Dollywood.

This is Dolly's tour bus. Girlfriend rides in style.

I was slightly disappointed when mom told me that they couldn't get THAT close to Dolly for a picture because she was barricaded off. (come on Dolly..you have to get up close and personal with your biggest fans). BUT, according to mom, this is when my Aunt screamed across to Dolly, "DOLLY OUR MOM LOVED YOU" and Dolly waved back and said "Thank You!"

and then Aunt Cindy really dropped the bomb on Dolly....

"SHE JUST DIED IN JANUARY" --that'away Aunt Cindy. Hit 'em with reality.

and Dolly said, "Oh, I'm so sorry!"

Bye Dolly! Until my family stalks you down again next time!....

"...not the end of my love"

“Time wastes too fast, Every letter I trace tells me with what rapidity life follows my pen, The days and hours of it pass over our heads like clouds of a windy day never to return more, Everything presses on....”
-Laurence Sterne

I checked her blog yesterday and read the news.

Patti writes beautifully here.

yes, "Just love and be loved in return".

This one's for Mamaw.

My mom informed me of a top secret mission a few weeks ago.

Tomorrow my mom and her sister will be traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains to meet the one and only Dolly Parton. It's all in honor of Mamaw.

Mamaw loved Dolly. I mean, absolutly thought she was a hoot (that's exactly the word that she would use to describe Dolly). She loved her big hair, boobs, makeup....everything. And she looooved to hear her sing. One of Mamaw's favorite places to visit was Dollywood. If you haven't been I suggest you put it on your bucket list. I think it's a magical, wonderful place. (maybe i've been there once or twice or more than 5 times.....but who's counting?)

Dolly will be at the park for opening day. She doesn't know that she is meeting my mom and aunt but they are going to stand in line for as long as it takes. My mom is a very determined woman and I have a feeling that Dolly will be forced to take a picture with the two.

Everyone, keep Mission: Get a picture with Dolly for Mamaw in your thoughts tomorrow. I'll be updating on the situation as I get word.

Over and out.

26

I turned the big 2-6 yesterday and I now have 26 followers.

Coincidence? I think not.

I had all these visions of taking pictures of some of my gifts and having a show and tell and then I realized all the effort that would take and well..it just wasn't happening this post.

I will give you the highlights.

I went to work and ate lots of cake. Then I came home and was whisked away to the movies to FINALLY see Alice and Wonderland. AND I got to pick out whatever candy I wanted (so this turned out to be an expensive movie date) What a wonderful movie for a gal to watch on her birthday. It just made me feel like I could do anything. I think Andrew and I both teared up at the end. Hey....emotions were running high.

(I took artistic licence & gave myself blonde locks with highlights. You like? oh yes)

I came home to the sweetest love letter from Andrew. I knew he spent a loooong time on it because he hand wrote it.....and....well....it takes Andrew a long time to get his chicken scratch legible. He just makes my heart pitter patter. :)

THANK YOU to all of my friends (including my internet machine friends) and family who made this birthday the best! It almost beat out my sweet 16 party at the Dorchester Community Center...but that party had tons of guest with braces and oooozed awkwardness so it stays in first place. XOXO

You get a line, I'll get a pole honey

My weekend was a blur.

I woke up this morning with a fuzzy memory of singing for 2 1/2 hours the night before at a lovely little diner in Staunton. I layed in bed putting together my thoughts as the sun peaked through the bedroom window (I leave the shades up so the sun can fall on me in the morning.....you can imagine how this goes over with my sleepover partner)

As the sun rose I realized that I had acomplished a dream. My first "real" gig. It went better than I could have expected and I just feel so.....blessed. It's the only word how to describe the way my life has turned.
Then I quickly remembered that I told my Dad (who came into town to see me sing) that I would have breakfast ready at 9:00am. Did I mention that I didn't have a thing at the house that I said would be on the menu?

After spending the morning catching up and sending off, Andrew and I went over to his sisters house, bummed food and laundry services and spent the entire day fishing in the pond behind her house.

It was a day much needed and thankfully I had my little camera phone on hand.

I'm ready for another day off tomorrow and a birthday this week! (how can 26 sound so much older than 25?) xoxo

Belle & Spring

Happy St. Patick's Day....even though I didn't wear green today to work and had absolutely no idea that it was my "peoples" holiday.

I've been sorta wrapped in my own little bubble of a world. But it's been kinda nice that way.

Andrew and I have been whispering to each other tonight. Not sweet nothings but whispering because our throats are so sore.

Spring has brought the sickness.

But it has also brought life. I am still amazed each new day that spring brings. I haven't seen a spring blossom outside of the city for a long time. Look at all of that green in the front field!

Am I just typing the random thoughts that are popping into my head?

yes.

Monday night I sang in Roanoke and I completely forgot the words to the second verse of the song and almost had a panic attack but then they magically came out of my mouth. Don't you think it's amazing how many things we stuff in our brains? And how we can just go on auto pilot?

I also realized that wearing a new pair of wedge heels for 10 hours can wreak havoc (don't you always love when you can use that phrase...it only comes along every so often) on your back the next day.

We officially own our first home. Trailer naming contest to soon follow. Get ready.

"Golden Rule Homes" did not practice the Golden Rule. It installed a kitchen sink that would work.....if I was about 5'2.

Today, I felt like blogs and facebook were really wierd. Do you ever get that feeling? And then I saw the glowing light and started this post (after checking facebook).

sweet sunday rain

{songs to spend the day with}

I saw Josh Radin in concert once. He has a really deep voice and large ego. But he does make me *sigh* heavy sighs when he sings. I love this song.

can I thread my coat to yours
and can we turn and turn and turn
can I stitch your sadness to wind and let it go
wil you build a little cabin on your little piece of land
will you curve your body against mine and let it rest

(thank you Amy for sending me this cd)

Sunday always makes me a little homesick. This songs reminds me of home and biscuits and coal.

xoxo

mission Find a Trailer-- COMPLETE

(not actual trailer..pictures to come!)
you know that feeling when everything oddly falls into place?
i love it.

clean and clear

and waiting on a permit
did you know that it costs $680 just to turn in the application? Oh yes. It does.
In the meantime we are searching for trailers (and I mean low budget trailers) to live in while we build. Can I admit something?
I'm really excited at finding a fix-er-upper and working some magic.
Be sure to stay tuned for some good ole trailer huntin' fun.
:) Happy Thursday (it's my day offf woooooooooooo)

tv rots your brain

I have been a widowed drug dealer who is involved with the Mexican underground drug scene.

Or at least, that's what I have been watching for the past 2 weeks hence, I have somehow wrapped my horse farm living life into pushing drugs in an underground tunnel (and been really bad about getting on this Internet machine)

We have been watching Weeds, season 1-5 every single night.

It's not healthy. I can tell you that. I was so relieved to finish season 5 last night. The line between reality and tv was blurring. Andrew and I were having full out conversations about the decisions the characters were making in life. Again..not healthy.

But that's not what this post is about. It's about SPRING and warm weather and sprinkles and sunshine. (gag...but I wanted to convey how happy I am right now)

I had the best visit with my mom and I couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend to spend with her. It has been warm and sunny and I feel rejuvenated. AND we had a surprise visit today by the contractor who is clearing the land and he is coming back out .....TOMORROW to start clearing (I can see my little trailor already!)

- happy times last summer...look at the greeeeeen-

Things are rolling right into place. And Weeds is over...until I get my hands on the next season...so now I can go back to my own reality instead of vicariously living through Nancy Botwin.

A moose and guitars

Where have I been? I don't even know. Busy? That's a lame excuse.

BUT I did spend my Sunday in Roanoke playing music with some of my very good friends (who happen to be amazing musicians)
Mickey (in the guitar pic with me) owns Antique Blue in Roanoke VA. The upstairs of the shop also serves as the office to his interior decorating business.
It was the perfect place to set up with a few bottles of wine and play good music.
(mom...I only had one glass before I hit the road. I'm saving you a phone call xoxo)

So that's some of the story of where I've been.
BUT it's my day off and I have lots to do and more to post! :)
Happy Tuesday!
