I believe I can fly

This made me quiet laugh at my desk this morning.  You know, the laugh that you think your co-worker can't hear when in reality you sound like you crying/huffing/crazy.

Backfire

After I finished tearing through the Hunger Games, I let Andrew go wild with the books.  It was really fun to know what was going to happen before he did, and I almost got more excited watching him read the books and asking me what was going to happen next.

Well, one day during the winter, the pups and I were hanging out in the love trailer, keeping warm.  Andrew was going in and out bringing in wood for the stove and preparing himself to read another chapter in the book.

Lily is the eldest of the two farm dogs and, well, let's just say she is nicknamed "silent but deadly".  She just sits around all day letting them rip and they are honestly, some of the worst farts i have ever smelled.  So is the life of a dog.

stinky poo Lilly

Well, apparently I had eaten something that was slowly decomposing in my body and while Andrew had slipped out to get more wood, I let it loose.

It was one of those that made you feel kinda nauseous/ashamed that that smell actually came from your body.  I thought it would disintegrate fast...but the smell lingered as the door opened again.

Andrew walked in and quickly picked up the scent.  "Ewww. Gross.  Was that Lily?"

"Yes", I immediatly replied.  "She has a stank butt today!" (only 1/2 a lie)

He believed me and inside I laughed to myself.  Hahahahaha.....pass it off on the dog.  Who hasn't used that trick once or twice?

I sat around smirking to myself about my trick and then I thought of the best way to fess up to Andrew. (Why fess up, you ask?  Because I think I am really funny)

I went to the end of a turn-around chapter in the Hunger Games- one of those cliffhanger chapters.  At the very end of the chapter, I wrote:

When A got back I said, you HAVE TO read this next chapter.  It is crazy!  It will blow your mind!

So he started to read it...
and I sat there giggling some more to myself until I saw a smile break out on his face and he started laughing and telling me how it was unbelieveable that that smell came from a human being.

Fast forward a month or so.  We lend the series to Andrew's Grandma.
Can you see where this is going?
.
.
.
A month or so later we are in NJ traveling to see my Nanny and I am about to hand the books over to her and Andrew whispers to me, "I don't think you ever erased that sentence from the book".

Panic.  "I thought YOU erased it before you gave it to Grandma!".  My heart sunk as I flipped through the pages.  And there it was, all penciled in.

I die.

Grandma was probably too embarassed to say anything to us.  Obviously she must have known it is my handwriting.

Mortified, I erased it before handing it over to my Nanny and vowed to never try and make farts funny again.

where I talk about how much I love the Hunger Games

I would like to put this past weekend on repeat and enjoy it over and over again.

Besides it being my birthday weekend (oh yes, I did stretch it into a weekend event) I got to go to 2 Hunger Games events.

Friday night I couldn't contain myself.   I made Andrew go stand in line with me at the movie theatre 1 hour before the show started, and good thing I did!  We were like 15th in line but got dank seats at the top of the theatre.

Here is a picture that I tried to take of Andrew standing in line in the middle of 30 girls aged 10-13.  Except he looked at me and said, "We are NOT turning this into a photo op moment".  Boo.  What a party pooper.  (and for reals, how do those Mega-Bloggers get their husbands to have a photo shoot everyday?  Andrew would stab me in the eye...)

The movie was all that I wanted it to be and more!  My only comment is that the books are so much better (duh) because Suzanne Collins is such a descriptive writer.....the movie just couldn't even compare and seemed to go so fast, but they did the best that they could.

Saturday we went to a Hunger Games party.  Oh yes we did.

Our friends Katie and Travis put on the shin-dig across the way in New Hope before they went to go see the show.  This was my kind of par-tay.

HG related food.  Check out the little hanging Sponsor baskets!  love!

yum.

Andrew won a contest and got a bottle of corn whiskey from the "Hob".

This is me pretending to be Katniss and WINNING.

Katie and Trav's view.  District 12.

It was a great weekend!  Now off to a fully loaded week.

28 ain't it great

This is a picture of me this morning on my 28th birthday standing in my love trailer, with my pimped out entertainment center in the background, along with a pile of old sweaters, holding my lovely cat, Little Bit.

I am exactly who and where I always wanted to be when I daydreamed about what life would look like at 28.

I love this life, I do, I do.

xoxoxo

ps.  HUNGER GAMES TONIGHT!  I wore a red dress in honor of Katniss.  I am geeking out over here over this movie premiere!

ducks, man

Yesterday  after work I stopped by Tractor Supply to pick up grass seed and wound up bringing four baby ducks home.  I just couldn't help myself!  PS.  This was totally cleared by my husband prior to me pulling up in the driveway.  I don't suggest surprising your significant other with baby ducks.

Baby frogs, baby ducks, If I don't spit out a baby soon we are going to be Noah's Ark.

white and blue

So my mom left this morning and although I feel like my life is magically "together" I am so sad that she left.  There is just nothin' like having your mom come back and take care of you.

I am spoiled.  I will be the first to admit it.  She helped with the mountain of laundry I had on the floor and walked me through actually putting it away when clean.  *shocker*.  She got us new pillows and sheets because she said that our bed looked like a homeless persons.  (no, for real, we didn't have any pillowcases and our sheets had like, balls all over them.  Cotton balls---not real ones)

We worked outside all weekend long and I LOVED EVERY SECOND.  Hello spring, welcome to my world.

Happy Monday

ps.  I love Jack White

Happy Birthday Debbie-Do!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

This is a picture from the wedding of me and my mom and brother.  We don't resemble each other at all, do we?

My mom is the bomb and she is coming to see us this weekend which means we get SPOILED.  :)

Here are some reasons why my mom is AHHHHmazing:

1.  She is the BEST southern cook.
2.  She loves to leave you 3 min. long voicemails just telling you she was trying to call.
3.  She loves to sing harmony with me.
4.  She can fall asleep at any moment in time.
5.  She would do anything for her family
6.  She loves her grand-cats, chickens, dogs, horses, and now frogs.

Those are just a few.

I LOVE YOU DEBORAH SUE!

Rest In Peace

Our Lady Mary has passed away into the spirit world.
Let's take a moment of silence and listen to this song:

What's worse is the way she died.  I put that porcelin thing in the fish bowl so that Frank & Beans would have something to hide out in (supposedly that's what frogs like to do).  I was too cheap to buy something from the pet store, so I just washed out this oil burner thing and stuck it in there.  Lady Mary got stuck in one of the holes and drowned.  (Beta's go up to the surface to breathe).  How tragic is that?  Hopefully she went fast.  Poor Lady Mary.

Your namesake, Lady Mary of Downton.

R.I.P.

and if you were wondering, Frank and Beans are taking this really hard.  They just need time.

Party Party Party

I love this grainy photo.  We are in a Molly & Kyle sandwich (far left & far right) and I wanted to stay in it all weekend long.  (huh?)

Molly & Kyle are getting married in May and they are one of my most favorite couples to be around.  We showered them with love & ridiculousness this weekend in celebration of the upcoming nuptials.

My stomach hurts from laughing and my body needed one more day to recover.  Oh, yeah, the time change didn't help one bit.

I cannot wait until May 5 to continue the partyyyyyyy!

Happy Friday!!!

I'm off on a road trip with my boo to go see two of my best friends and a baby!  I am so looking forward to this weekend get away.

Peace OUT.

By the way.  Have you ever watched Dance Moms?  I admit, sometimes I watch it for pure train wreck pleasure, but doesn't Abby Lee remind you of the bus driver on South Park?

The most romantic wedding night you will ever read about

Remember how I booked a romantic room at a local B&B for our wedding night?  Well, this is a story about how we spent $200 to stay in a room for 5 hours, 10 miles down the road from our house and walk-of-shamed our arses back home.

Andrew was never on board for the wedding night room to begin with.  He couldn't wrap his head around why we would want to leave all of our friends that night.  I assured him that it would be a little overwhelming and we would want to probably get away at the end of the night (and that I was not going to spend my wedding night in our trailer).

Fast forward to the end of the wedding.  We did our send off and folks started to leave but it just didn't feel right to leave .  I mean, it was OUR PARTY and I wanted to party some more.  My bridal party left one by one, family was gone, and then it seemed like it was just us late-nighters and the band.  Andrew kept asking me if I wanted to leave and go to the room and I kept saying "NO!  Its my party!!!!!!! I cant leave!"

One by one, our sober rides to the B&B left.

Around 2:00 Andrew finally started making sense to me.  All of our safe rides had left. I looked around the barn and clearly, no one left was in a state to drive.  There was only one option---my mother in law.

Andrew tried to talk me out of going to the room at all, it seemed silly at this point to him.  Empasis on "to him".  I put my foot down and said NO.  I MUST GO TO OUR ROOM.  IT IS PART OF OUR ROMANTIC WEDDING NIGHT.

So off we went down to his parent's house to wake up his mom and ask her if she would drive us to the B&B.  Andrew continued to try and talk me out of it, but my heart was set.  She loves me a lot and said yes and we loaded up in the backseat of her Navigator and went down the road.

So..just picture this.  We are still decked out in our wedding attire, in the back seat of my mother in law's car going to our wedding night B&B.

We arrived at our beautiful room and.....

well...

let's skip over some parts.

I woke up at about 6:30 a.m. and realized I had not packed an overnight bag OR a cell phone.  Neither did Andrew.  So we were trapped in our room and all I had to wear was spanx and a band t-shirt.

I started to have that panicked, without a cell phone and slightly hungover feelings.  (you know what I mean)

I finally got a hold of my mom at the hotel and asked her to bring me some clothes and if she could get us a ride back home.  A few minutes later we hear her knocking at the door and she hands me some pajama pants.  Yup...it's just me, my mom, and my new husband standing beside my wedding night bed.  This is exactly how I planned things.

Then we had to make our escape.  I grabbed my wedding dress in a huge ball and went for it.  People were in the lobby, and I could hear them say "oh, look! They just got married!  I didn't dare make eye contact.

We got in the car and all busted out laughing.  How did this end up even happening?  Then we begged my mom to go by Hardees for some biscuits and gravy and the rest is history.

We got a nice email from the owners a day or so later saying that they were sad to have missed us over breakfast.  Oppsie.  Sorry, I was shoveling Hardees in my mouth and trying to pick up the pieces of my life back from the floor.

It was perfectly "us" and a story we may or may not tell our children.

And that concludes our walk-of-shame wedding night story.

How my weekend went from good to SNOW GOOD

 Good Tuesday my dears!

Excuse the hiatus, but I was living in my dream world 3-day-snow-weekend!  (for you non-school workin' types, don't be jealous)

We spent Friday night at home and I took 30 photos of my new pets.  Sounds like fun?  Oh it was.
Presenting to the world:  LADY MARY (beta), and FRANK & BEANS (frogs).  Frank is somersaulting over Beans in this pic.  I was worried that they didn't like their new home but they have been quite happy lately.  I'm really digging the new family additions.  (I really want salamanders next..)

Saturday I took a trip to the Asian Market in Charlottesville with some of the international boarders from the school that I work at.  We loaded the short bus and I had my first experience with an Asian market.  I really wanted to buy something so I grabbed candy, tea, edamame, and these cute little asian soaps.

Sunday came around and I had so much to clean around the house.  So naturally I sat and watched Oprah's Super Soul Sunday and put all of my dirty clothes on top of the bed and felt satisfied with cleaning. (clean floors = clean room)

Sunday night was extra fun because I played music with a bluegrass band I have been jamming with lately.  The name of the group is the Mason Jars (love) and I am pretty stoked about our first gig. I really love playing in a group and having some voices to harmonize with.  Ill keep you posted.  :)

On Monday morning the alarm went off and Andrew let me know it was snowing.  I brushed it off because we have not had a full snow day all year and I wasn't about to get my hopes up on March 5.  Except when I looked out the window it was really coming down!  I prayed hard while looking at the blue strip on the bottom of the news page and then finally, like a little snow angel, it appeared!  SCHOOL IS CLOSED!  I did a little snow dance in my pajammers.  It was like a do-over day.

We played in the snow for a bit with the dogs, horses, chickens, and cats.

Hunter loves snow more than any dog I have ever seen.
Isn't Little Bit so handsome in this picture?  I love him so.

AND that was my surprise 3 day weekend.

Happy Tuesday!

long live the Queen

It seems like just yesterday I was cradling Lil Bit in my arms.
Today I am cradling Kate Middleton.

My co-worker brought in the Kate Middleton doll that her grandmother got her for Christmas.  My co-worker is in her 30s....her Grandmother is convinced that she still collects dolls.  She was nice enough to bring it in so that we could all take a gander at the Princess herself.

I might have taken more than a gander.

Ugh.  I love her.  A lot.  You can tell met that you think I look like her.  I won't get offended at all.

I also thought I would share a picture from a storefront I saw today in downtown Staunton

Is that not the creepiest thing you have ever seen?  Very Donnie Darko if you ask me.

annnndddd those are my Thursday Thoughts.  Enjoy!
