Hello Friday Morning

My alarm goes off around 6:30 every morning. Do I get up then? Of course not. It's snooze time.....But my little cat has other plans.
Have you ever had your eyes closed and you feel like someone is just staring at you? (creepers)
Well, that is what I wake up to every morning. I have that feeling and I open my eyes and there she is, on the bed, just staring at me.
And then comes the face licking. Sometimes, it's the cutest thing in the world.
Not so much at 6:30 in the morning. I literally have to bury my face in the pillow so she can't find it. I toss and turn, but she won't leave me alone.... for whole HOURS at a time.

-----------Is this what having a child is like?-----------
"mom, wake up. mom, wake up. mom, wake up. mom, wake up. mom, wake up. mom, wake up. mom, wake up."

(so maybe i'm not quite ready to raise a child)

Moving on moving forward.

I get to work and have a (drumroll................)

email about my student loan being out of the forbearance period! WOO HOO.

So then I have my yearly cry over the amount of money I owe. And this is when all of those theatre classes pay off. Talk about dramatic.
"I, sniff, just...(cry) won't -sniff- ever (cry) be able (sniff) to pay this(cry) off....."

head on desk. andrew on phone (trying not to laugh at me).
life may be over as we know it.

Andrew: It's okay. The average student owes like $60K when they get out of are no where near that.

Me: (sobs) yeah..but they are all probably not even that smart....I dont even want to do anything with my degreeeeeee, I'm always goign to be lifeeeee

I quickly put on my big girl panties & declared forbearance AGAIN for another 12 months. (suckers......I will ride the system until they tell me to get off)

highs and lows my dears. It's just a day in the life.

In conclusion: Olivia is a spoiled brat who controls my days and nights and never go to a private college unless you have scads of money.

(Happy Friday and please excuse the sleep deprived ramblings written above. )

i had a dream

I just had to re-post this from The Rockstar Diaries.

I think I watched this about 10 times last night.
The first time in pure awe...mouth wide open, tears whelling up.

The next 9 times I watched in sweet envy.

the simplicity of her voice
the harmonica
the harmonies

be still my musical heart.
thank you Pricilla Ahn.

dog days of summer

The hours seem to be creeping by at an incredibly slllllllooooooow pace here at work AND I have vacation on the brain!

Leaving on Sunday for the beach--I need to break out of this joint.

Harper Valley P.T.A.

The radio landed on this song on our way home from the lake. I sat bobbing my head, looking out past the country road, loving every minute of this car trip.

this song is great. i bet it will make you smile.
and it's ok if it doesnt.

(that hair)

(the makeup)

she reminds me of dolly parton and i liiike it.

trouble was a brewin'

My porcelain thrown was hugged tight last night and I wanted nothing more than to NOT be by myself.

See, I love living alone...except when I get sick.

Not sure what's going on with my tummy but sickeness, alone in the dark, is horrible. Even if I know I am just going to throw up, I still have a flash of panic that this is my last hoorah.

This is it.

I am going to die alone, next to my toilet.

To cap off the night, after round 2 at 5:00am, I heated up some water for camomile tea (and found out I had none...perfect) but decided to sip on the hot water. That would have been great except I proceded to spill half of the NEAR BOILING water all over my chest.

Thank goodness for my Florence Nightingale, aka Olivia. She stayed up with me, kissing my nose when I got back into bed, curling up beside me and purring throughout the night.

I love my little cat.

She''ll be comin 'round the mountain....

Dear I-64,

sometimes I love you,
sometimes I hate you,
sometimes I get tickets on you,
but you lead me to an exit that brings me LOTS of happiness
so I thank you for that.
(but not for the tickets or tunnel-like road that drains my soul).

home is where the heart is

I went home a few weeks ago. A much needed visit.
This isn't the first time Andrew has come home with me, but sitting on top of Flag Rock, looking down at the entire city, he asked me what most people do when I claim Norton as home:
"how did you end up here?"

not by choice. but. life takes you places for a reason.

(or so i'd like to believe)
and it's a little piece of my story.

The best part of the trip was Benjamin Noah McQueen. My nephew was able to spend the entire weekend at my moms which meant.......TONS of AUNT VAL AND BEN TIME.

It was wonderful. He is the most special, precious thing alive. We could kiss him to death.

(maybe we almost did)

That's 3 generations of kisses for you Ben.

my masterpiece.

Andrew and I laughed so hard at this picture, we cried.

family is special. family is love.

I used to make secret plans to "replace" Sara Watkins...

when she played in Nickel Creek.
I love them. I just knew they wouldn't let me in...they already have their girl quota filled--and do you compete with a brother sister duo in the group?
Damn. I would have to stage a plan to get Sara out of there.

Kidding. But I watch videos of her singing and playing and am green with the sweetest of envy.

She has a new solo album that is great. This is one of my favorite songs.

"I'm sorry about being a horrid troll"

That was my recent text to Andrew. I'm pretty sure I looked like this guy a few times over the weekend.

found here

I don't even think Olivia wanted to be around me at some points.

Excuses, excuses...I was just having one of those weekends. Off and on.....but it's kinda hard to stay mad at a person when you come back from "taking a breather" and find your front door covered in these:

That guy was a floor message.

He's a dear.

And no...I don't mean a deer like the one I found roaming around the Fan last week:

{ cute dress.}

He is near and dear to me and puts up with hunger pains, mood swings and my constant "i feel nauseous" temper tantrums.

It's a tough job, but somebodys gotta do it.

land of the dead.

I love going to Hollywood Cemetery. It beats the Richmond heat and gets me off my couch and outdoors.

Other reasons why I like going:

It's free
It's shady and cool
It's quiet
There's not many people around

(so i'm a hermit who escapes to historic cemeteries)

"gettting to knowwwwww youuuu"
-The King and I, humming in head.

hey there stud.

scene: James Monroe's tomb.

View of Belle Isle. I wrote "island". What is the difference?
I don't know either.
But desperate Richmonders seeking water flock here at the James River, which has smelled ddddddelightful as of late.
sunday funday complete.

new favorite thing

I don't wear a lot of jewelry because well, for one I seem to lose it all but mainly because I'm just not a jewelry person.

BUT I have a new favorite piece. Andrew and I had this custom made from LoveStruckMetals, found on Etsy. We used the alchemy tool that allows you to request certain handmade items and I just knew that someone would be able to make what has been in my head for awhile.

"love you to the moon and back" is kinda our little saying. I am just so happy with how it came out. Check out LoveStuckMetals for more! She would love to make something custom for you!

la dee da.

Put the tub down, walk away and no one gets hurt.

I think I need new guest blankets.

I cross my heart that I did not purchase the kitten blanket. It was a joke (i hope/think) from my mom.

But seriously. These are the only two extra blankets I had to offer to my guest last night.

(thinking about it now, I guess I could have offered my blanket.....crap.)

foxy photo taken at the Grand Caverns

Monday, July 6, 2009

oh I loved my weekend

We crammed as much as seemingly possibly into our weekend

a date night in Staunton
endless car rides
playing with the horses at night (I sorta drag Andrew to the fields every night so I can play)
trip to the Grand Caverns
lots of naps in the sun
I made sure to fulfill every Americans 4th of July tradition of overeating.

OH and I was coerced into playing (I mean like actually singing and playing guitar) not once but twice!!! Lord knows what I sounded like, fumbling in the dark, but it felt great and even better to have Andrew as my unwavering cheerleader.

-baby steps-

Hope you had a great one!

I clearly went overboard on this one....

But that's how I roll.

{and I am counting down the minutes at work until my 4th of July weekend begins, obviously not doing any work}

Have a lovely holiday weekend!!

crafty, oh so crafty.

Very excited about tonight. The theme is "church picnic". I'm bringing homemade from scratch, BANANA PUDDIN'.

These earrings were so easy to make. I bought a pack of plastic, rose buttons, cut the back off of the buttons, painted them pink and then glued them to earring posts.

(I sanitized them after modeling.....promise)
