Big hair and good friends

I had my HEN party last weekend!

I was surprised with a lake house at Smith Mountain Lake with some of my most favorite people in the entire world!  It was heaven.

(Our view of the lake)

We had dinner on Friday night and I got to wear the prettiest lace dress ever AND a white flower in my hair.

We spent the next day sunbathing on the dock and playing in the water.  A lake house at SML has been added to my lists of "wants".  Pretty please.

After a few other surprises I was dolled up and ready to go to my final surprise destination.  Our cameras all broke so we had to use our phones.  I believe that this was somehow an act of God protecting me and my future children/husband.  I'll leave you with my Tanya Tucker big hair outfit that I danced the night away in!

(My lucky boots and T-shirt that everyone wore "What Would Valerie Do"!)

Girlfriend is not a spring chicken anymore and it took me two full days to recover.  I spent all day Monday on the couch napping with Olivia & my baby blanket.  Andrew must have snapped this on my phone .....

My girls did it up and did it RIGHT.  I loved every second.  THANK YOU for all the memories of (get ready for some inside jokes)

a most perfect weekend

I tried to take a cue from Mother Nature this weekend.  Equal parts relaxation and celebration!

It was my soul sisters 30th birthday party on Saturday night and we couldn't have had a better time with friends! They put on such an amazing bash!

(me and the birthday girl...I'm so happy we found each other!!!)

We stayed up late underneath the stars & eventually Andrew pulled me away and said it was way past our bedtime and time to go home.  Boo.  Hiss.  Let a girl party.

On Sunday we woke up and I made biscuits, gravy, bacon and fresh farm eggs for Andrew & our bff friend Eric!  Mmmmmmm.  I am a good hostess folks.  I'll treat you right.

Eric grew up with Andrew in Mt. Sidney, down the road on his family's Dairy Farm.  Eric and I went to college together.  We became the three musketeers when Eric played matchmaker.  It usually just feels like 3 old friends hanging out when Eric is around...and that's perfectly fine with me.  We keep each other laughing at life.  I love having him over.

We took a walk down our trail in the morning and then after an emergency Slurpee trip was made we stopped by the Wampler farm to walk through the woods.

Eric has some pretty cows.  That's a fact.

His farm is absolutely beautiful.  A real treasure in these times.  :)  Look at those mountains.

(did I mention I absolutely love where I live?  Because I do.  Can't imagine being anywhere else.)

Scraggle-muffins

A storm rolled in as soon as we finished our walk and we watched it pour down the most beautiful spring shower while sitting on the front porch.

AHhhhhhhhhh.  yes.  It was a most perfect weekend.

a no good day

But I found this picture from last weekend in my Photobucket account and it made me happy...even if we are all squinty from the sun.

I still have half of a day to turn it around. Let's see what happens.....

p.s. For those of you concerned/amused about my head, Head and Shoulders has worked miracles.

Braggy McBragster

I've got some updating to do.

Last week, Mickey & I sang in the Mockingbird's All Star Open Mic Night.

aaaaannnnd we won!! It was a pretty wild ride of emotions. I totally thought that the lost Jonas brother & his band were going to sweep the competition.

Needless to say, I held a HUGE cheese smile on my face the rest of the night. It was stuck for at least 48 hours.

I had the best friends come and support me (thanks guys!) and the entire night is engrained in my mind as one of the best times I have had here in the Valley to date. :)

Box full o' love

All my stuff is still in boxes. They are packed up in the office of the new barn. I can't WAIT until I can go through everything and feel all nostalgic and happy.

BUT until then I am glad that I remembered to take pictures of this box, a birthday present box, to be more specific, that Johannah made for me last March. Johannah is my long lost roomate from Richmond. I knew that I would be lifelong friends with Johannah when I quoted the movie "Anne of Green Gables" and she finished my sentence. We are "kindred spirits" and both have crushes on Gilbert. (TRC 4 eva.)

This is one of the best birthday presents I have ever recieved and the only birthday present that has been boarderline creepy (in the very best of ways).

You can imagine my excitement when Johannah showed up on my doorstep, love box in hand.

And this is the best cut and paste job I have ever seen:

amazing. simply amazing. I wish I could make birthday boxes for everyone in the world. Maybe then we would have world peace.

Winter Olympics 09

I love my gloves. And him. And all of this snow.

We took the tractor and plowed a sledding lane down the back field.

The tractor got stuck and I went down about 3 times before my tush was a solid sheet of ice BUT we had a blast.

Pretty sure I won the competition. It must have been the neon orange lobster claw gloves.

One Person. Every Day.

This is Amy. Best friend. Creater of First Wednesdays. Amazing person.

She started a new project called "One Person. Every Day."

She chronicles how someone or something makes her happy each day.

I especially loved her post for December 11, 2009.

She is an incredibly talented writer and I am so lucky to have her in my life.

"I'm sorry about being a horrid troll"

That was my recent text to Andrew. I'm pretty sure I looked like this guy a few times over the weekend.

found here

I don't even think Olivia wanted to be around me at some points.

Excuses, excuses...I was just having one of those weekends. Off and on.....but it's kinda hard to stay mad at a person when you come back from "taking a breather" and find your front door covered in these:

That guy was a floor message.

He's a dear.

And no...I don't mean a deer like the one I found roaming around the Fan last week:

{ cute dress.}

He is near and dear to me and puts up with hunger pains, mood swings and my constant "i feel nauseous" temper tantrums.

It's a tough job, but somebodys gotta do it.

sewing skills {or lack there of}

I want to sew a letter like this found on Twig & Thistle:

Johannah, former roomate turned best friend, came over to my apt. the other night to help me thread my machine. She has sewing skills. I do not.

We just couldn't get that darn bottom stitch to catch.

And then we got into a funny conversation, catching up on old times and by the time she left I wasn't even thinking about sewing anymore.

I really really am going to learn though.

ps. no spirit sighting yet. keep you posted.
