So fresh and so clean, clean.

I saw this snail on my way into work this morning.  I think snails are pretty amazing.
I also found a toad a.k.a Mr. Toad under our back porch the other night.  I am OBSESSED with toads.  I love them.  I pet them and talk to them and they become members of my family.  Mr. Toad is a little frightened of me right now...but he will come to love me in due time.

This post isn't really going anywhere and that's okay.  It's spring and there's life blooming everywhere.  Baby birds just hatched in our shoe caddy on the back porch.  Three little babies open their mouths crying for their mom every time I look in.  Our forest trail looks like the amazon (to me) because I have never been down there before in the summer.  This is the first year we have a trail going to the bottom of the property.  It is magical.

Strawberry plants have blooms all over them and our peas and lettuce are poppin' up everywhere.

Life feels fresh.

Do you?
I do.

my pretty flowers

This is the African Violet that we never thought would bloom.
Look at her now!
Andrew has the green touch. His Grandma tells him that he can make anything grow---and that's a special comment coming from Grandma McLaughlin. She has the prettiest flowers on the farm.

I noticed little bulbs pushing their way up from the hard ground this morning. It reminded me of how many cues we can take from nature. I reflected a lot this winter about my life and the world and what I want to do in the time I have left here. I feel spring moving in me now.

Keep on pushin' through.....

You get a line, I'll get a pole honey

My weekend was a blur.

I woke up this morning with a fuzzy memory of singing for 2 1/2 hours the night before at a lovely little diner in Staunton. I layed in bed putting together my thoughts as the sun peaked through the bedroom window (I leave the shades up so the sun can fall on me in the morning.....you can imagine how this goes over with my sleepover partner)

As the sun rose I realized that I had acomplished a dream. My first "real" gig. It went better than I could have expected and I just feel so.....blessed. It's the only word how to describe the way my life has turned.
Then I quickly remembered that I told my Dad (who came into town to see me sing) that I would have breakfast ready at 9:00am. Did I mention that I didn't have a thing at the house that I said would be on the menu?

After spending the morning catching up and sending off, Andrew and I went over to his sisters house, bummed food and laundry services and spent the entire day fishing in the pond behind her house.

It was a day much needed and thankfully I had my little camera phone on hand.

I'm ready for another day off tomorrow and a birthday this week! (how can 26 sound so much older than 25?) xoxo

tv rots your brain

I have been a widowed drug dealer who is involved with the Mexican underground drug scene.

Or at least, that's what I have been watching for the past 2 weeks hence, I have somehow wrapped my horse farm living life into pushing drugs in an underground tunnel (and been really bad about getting on this Internet machine)

We have been watching Weeds, season 1-5 every single night.

It's not healthy. I can tell you that. I was so relieved to finish season 5 last night. The line between reality and tv was blurring. Andrew and I were having full out conversations about the decisions the characters were making in life. Again..not healthy.

But that's not what this post is about. It's about SPRING and warm weather and sprinkles and sunshine. (gag...but I wanted to convey how happy I am right now)

I had the best visit with my mom and I couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend to spend with her. It has been warm and sunny and I feel rejuvenated. AND we had a surprise visit today by the contractor who is clearing the land and he is coming back out .....TOMORROW to start clearing (I can see my little trailor already!)

- happy times last summer...look at the greeeeeen-

Things are rolling right into place. And Weeds is over...until I get my hands on the next season...so now I can go back to my own reality instead of vicariously living through Nancy Botwin.
